Hoje é dia mundial da gentileza e enquanto eu vinha para o trabalho já pensava no que dizer numa data tão importante. A primeira coisa que veio à minha mente foi o filme A corrente do bem, lançado em 2000, baseado no livro homônimo escrito por Catherine Ryan Hyde, que mudou a visão de milhões de pessoas no mundo todo sobre a bondade. Mudar o mundo um passo de cada vez, utopia?

Falando sobre gentileza e bondade, não podemos nos esquecer da querida Amélie Poulain do filme de 2001 dirigido por Jean-Pierre Jeunet, personagem cujos esforços para mudar a vida das pessoas a seu redor para melhor foram notáveis; e Pollyanna, outra representante fictícia importante da amabilidade no livro escrito por Eleanor H. Porter em 1913. O exemplo mais recente de natureza bondosa de que se tem notícia é a Poppy, personagem principal no filme Simplesmente Feliz, de 2008, dirigido por Mike Leigh. Eu até poderia acrescentar mais nomes à essa lista de 'mocinhos e mocinhas' do cinema, mas alguns começariam a pensar que bondade e gentileza só existem na telona e isso é uma grande inverdade.

Se você acha que não tem ninguém trabalhando pela paz mundial, talvez precise saber que o Prêmio Nobel da Paz foi entregue 90 vezes a 120 laureados entre 1901 e 2009 - 97 vezes a pessoas e 23 a organizações. Mesmo assim se você resolver dar uma olhada na lista de laureados e descobrir que conhece pouquíssimos dos nomes lá, isso só significa que talvez você não tenha idéia da dimensão dos problemas sociais aguardando solução e da quantidade de pessoas envolvidas na busca de respostas. É verdade, nós não sabemos não. Geralmente estamos ocupados demais reclamando de coisas demais para perceber como somos abençoados e ainda, que deveríamos estar trabalhando pelo bem dos outros de alguma forma. Ser gentil pode ser tão fácil.

Gentileza Gera Gentileza é uma ação social, criada para espalhar a mensagem de José Datrino, o Profeta Gentileza. José foi um homem que renunciou ao materialismo para se tornar professor do amor, da compaixão e da beleza espiritual nos anos 60. Hoje, a iniciativa quer também trazer de volta valores esquecidos como a solidariedade e o respeito ao próximo, incentivando a adoção de pequenos atos de gentileza, que, colocados em prática, podem melhorar a vida de todos nós, como por exemplo, não jogar lixo no chão, fumar em locais abertos ou não fumar; dizer 'oi', 'obrigado', 'por favor'; sorrir, não estacionar nas calçadas, ouvir os outros.

A Pie Princess, que escreve o blog Thought Leadership e organizou o Evento do Dia da Gentileza no BloggersUnite desafia as pessoas a serem gentis, se já não estão sendo, começando hoje. Dá pra ser bom sem fazer muito esforço, só precisa mesmo de um pouco de boa vontade.

│Today is World kindness day and while commuting to work I started thinking about what to say on such an important date. First thing on my mind was the movie Pay it forward, released in 2000, based on the homonymous book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, that changed the view of millions of people around the world towards kindness. Many graduate students in Education colleges all around the country have made project works based on the movie since then. Change the world one favor at a time, utopia?

Talking about kindness, let's not forget to mention Amélie Poulain from the 2001 film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, whose efforts to change the lives of those around her for the better are remarkable, and Pollyanna, another important fictional representative of kindness in the book written by Eleanor H. Porter in 1913. The most recent example of good nature in the movies is Poppy, the main character in the 2008 Mike Leigh film Happy-Go-Lucky. I could add more names to the list of good boys and girls on the movies, but some would start thinking kindness is something you only see in the movies and it's so not true.

If you think there'a no one working for the world peace, you should know that the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded 90 times to 120 Nobel Laureates between 1901 and 2009 – 97 times to individuals and 23 times to organizations. You check the list of laureates and discover you don't know most of the names there - it just means maybe you have no idea how difficult it is for some people around the world to make it for a new day. Yes, we don't know. We're often too busy complaining about too many things to notice how blessed our lives are and we should be working for the welfare of others somehow. Being kind can be simple.

There's this project in Brazil called Gentileza Gera Gentileza (kindness generates kindness) created in order to spread the message of José Dantrino, kindness prophet. José was a man who relinquish materialism to become the teacher of love, compassion and spiritual beauty in the 60's. Nowadays, the project is an attempt to restore forgotten values, such as respect and solidarity by encouraging people to adopt simple acts that can improve everyone's lives, like not littering, smoking only in open and permitted places, saying 'hello', smiling, saying 'thanks' and 'please', not parking on the sidewalks, listening to the others.
